Shopping

The recently renovated town centre boasts a Waitrose supermarket, a department store, and over 100 other retail outlets, including high street chains and local shops.

Leisure

Watermills play an important part in the history of Romsey (The Domesday Book of 1086 providing the earliest record of watermills here), and Sadler’s Mill, dating back to the 16th century, is almost certainly the most famous of the town’s surviving mills. Romsey Abbey, originally built to house a community of Benedictine nuns, is open daily to visitors. You may also wish to take part in The Mayor’s Picnic – famous for its popular Duck Race – hosted early-mid summer and held in Romsey’s Memorial Park.

Education

Pupils of all ages are well catered for with Primary Schools, High Schools, Colleges and the University of Southampton all within easy reach.

(Sorry, but we cannot guarantee that the schools listed are within the catchment area or have available places; or that this is a complete list of all schools in the local area.)

Transport

Romsey is the perfect base for the commuter, being within 10 miles of both the M27 and the M3 motorways offering fast links to London - with the Midlands and the North easily accessible via the A34. Romsey railway is nearby when you want to leave the car at home and for journeys further afield you have Southampton Airport not far from your door.

Health

Staying healthy and happy need never be a problem at Abbotswood as there are several doctors and dentists in the area, and there is Southampton General Hospital less than 10 miles away.
