A Cambridgeshire couple found they were able to move from renting to buying after a visit to Linden Homes' St Michael's Chase development in Longstanton. Lorna Conlon and Morgan Mullooly looked around the show home at the site and ended up buying the same three-bedroom property type off-plan, a real step up from their two-bedroom rental apartment.
The couple, who both work in Cambridge, now have a perfect base for commuting in Longstanton, just a few miles north of the city. Lorna tells their story: "When we decided to look for a place of our own, we wanted new-build - a blank canvas on which to put our own stamp. We did have a budget to stick to and didn't think that we would be able to extend to a three-bedroom home, until we visited Longstanton and had a look around a house type identical to the one we eventually reserved from plan. We're thrilled the house and all the extra space - particularly the study which will allow Morgan to work from home."
St Michael's Chase will boast 77 new homes when completed, including a number of two-bedroom apartments and maisonettes and a range of three-, four- and five-bedroom houses. Prices for the first phase of houses for sale start at £217,500, so other buyers who may have thought they could only afford to look at property to rent could find an ideal new-build home at this development. The marketing suite and show home are open from 10.30am to 5.00pm, Thursday to Monday.
Longstanton is close to Huntingdon, St Ives and Cambridge, all off the nearby A14. The Cambridgeshire Guided Busway park-and-ride link also passes through Longstanton, granting easy access to the rail network in nearby towns. The A10, A1 and M11 are all within an easy drive of these new homes in Cambridgeshire.
