Set on the site of the former Battle Hospital, the newest phase of properties at Portman Square in Reading is set to be unveiled this weekend (Saturday 14th January 2012) by David Wilson Homes. Some 263 new homes, a mix of apartments and houses, will be released, following the success of an earlier phase last year.
These new homes in Berkshire will be priced from £179,995 for a two-bedroom apartment and from £209,995 for a two-bedroom house. There will also be three-bedroom apartments together with three- and four-bedroom houses for sale at Portman Square, ensuring a selection that will appeal to a wide range of house hunters in the area.
Paul Moran, Sales Director for David Wilson Homes Southern says: "Initial interest in the new phase of homes has been high. We expect the apartments to be particularly popular with first-time buyers looking for a property that is desirable, well located and also affordable."
The affordability of selected plots is increased thanks to funds from the Government's FirstBuy purchase assistance scheme, which is aimed at those buying their first home or re-entering the property market, for example following the breakdown of a relationship. The scheme requires a deposit of just five per cent (considerably less than many mortgage lenders ask for) and grants the buyer 100% ownership with the need to fund just 80% of the price up-front.
"The scheme has been extremely popular at a number of our new homes developments during 2011 and no doubt we will see the same success at Portman Square in 2012," adds Paul. "Funding for the scheme is expected to continue until the Spring, so I would encourage first-time buyers to visit the development as soon as possible to find out more."
Prospective buyers can register to attend the launch weekend at Portman Square on 0844 811 4333.
