Ipswich Borough Council has given planning consent for the construction of new build homes, as part of a major development on Grafton Way in the heart of the Suffolk town.
The multi-million pound project will feature a new 11,833sqm Tesco supermarket, two hotels comprising 247 bedrooms, a gymnasium, retail space, along with new flats.
Building work on the new homes will get underway, assuming the scheme is approved by the government.
A report submitted to the authorities said: "The design has been through a number of iterations, mainly as a result of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) considerations.
"The store has fundamentally changed from a cladded building with curved roof to a more formal, classical form with more glazing. Hotel two has been made more vertical and the retail terrace facing the river has been deleted."
