Confidence within the new and affordable homes industry is at its highest levels since the peak of the housing market in 2007, illustrated by the high volume of What House? Award entries received this year.
What House? has been inundated with entries from across the UK - the highest level in the last three years, including a number of new housing developments in South London .
The What House? Awards, in their 29th year, are the most prestigious and longest established in the housebuilding industry. They are recognised as the Oscars of the housebuilding industry and celebrate the absolute crème de la creme of new build homes in the UK .
Below are just some of the new home developments in South London that have been entered into this year's competition.
Housebuilder St James is targeting gold in three different categories with housing projects across South London .
The Althorp at Roehampton Lane , London, SW15, which features a selection of new build houses, has been entered into the Best House category. Meanwhile, the Silkworks and Queen's Mary's Place, both located in Lewisham, SE13, have been entered in for Best Apartment and Best Development, respectively.
The Best Development category received four entries from developers building housing developments in South London. Berkeley Homes have entered Royal Arsenal Riverside, SE18, which features hundreds of contemporary apartments. Affinity Sutton and Astral Homes have nominated a stylish selection of new homes in a development called The Gallery, SW6. Elsewhere, The Hyde Group have entered Bermondsey Spa, SE16.
The other South London housing developments to be entered into the Best Apartment category this year are B5 Clapham Park in Lambeth, SW8, and Mount Anvil 's This Space on Wandsworth Road , SW8. The latter development is in the well-publicised regeneration area of Nine Elms, incorporating Battersea Power Station and the new American Embassy.
Meanwhile, the Printworks by First Base, a mixed-use scheme featuring 164 new build homes, has been entered into the Best Mixed-Use category.
The Best Shared Ownership category received entries from The Hyde Group for Eyot Heights in Bermondsey, SE16, L&Q for the the Pulse in Lambeth, SE11, and Family Mosaic for Espirita Apartments, Elephant & Castle, SE1.
This year's winners will be announced on November 19th at a gala ceremony at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, with the results published in the South London Press - the region's leading local newspaper.
