Housebuilders have started construction work on over 100 new affordable homes in Northampton which are scheduled for completion in 2012.
Westleigh Partnership Homes are developing 68 new affordable homes in Bridle Road, Burton Latimer, as part of a £7m scheme, with a view to completing the project in May.
Meanwhile, the foundations have already been laid for a new homes development on the former Tresham College site in in St Mary's Road, Kettering, which will include 40 affordable homes, at a cost of close to £5m.
Housing association Waterloo Housing will manage both housing schemes, which are being part funded by the Housing and Communities Agency (HCA).
John Conway of Kettering Council has expressed his delight at the fact that the new affordable homes are being delivered in Northampton.
"With many people finding it hard to get a home of their own, it's great to see these new, high-quality affordable homes being built in our borough," he said.
Elsewhere in Northampton, Bloor Homes South Midlands is selling a selection of three- and four-bedroom homes at its new development in Duston, Scholars Grange, with prices starting from £177,950 for a three-bedroom property.
Also in Duston, Bellway is also developing Trinity Green, which features a range of two-bedroom apartments for starter families, along with a range of three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, with prices starting at £129,995.
