Jeffrey Adams, group chief executive of the United House Group, has expressed his delight at the company's private residential development arm United House Developments winning the most prestigious prize in the new homes industry, the What House? Housebuilder of the Year 2011.

Adams received the housebuilding industry's top award at a glittering ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Friday, hosted by actor and comedian Hugh Dennis, star of Outnumbered and Mock the Week.

Adams said: "Housebuilder of the Year is the ultimate accolade and we are delighted that the quality of our homes and our ability to deliver an exciting and diverse portfolio have been recognised. We have a highly talented and dedicated team at United House Developments who take a bespoke approach to external design and interior specification.

"Our developments are characterised by outstanding architecture, meticulous attention to detail and a real environmental agenda. Our schemes are delivered by a highly skilled in-house construction team who are in control and committed to creating the very best developments."

In addition to the top title, United House also scooped a further three gold awards, a silver and a bronze. United House won the Best Medium Housebuilder gold award, two gold awards, in partnership with LondonNewcastle, for its development at Arundel Square in Islington for Best Exterior Design and Best Landscape Design, and a silver award for best apartment at Central St Giles, the acclaimed Renzo Piano development in Covent Garden. It also received a bronze in Best Partnership Scheme for its regeneration and delivery of new homes with Hounslow Council and HounslowHomes in Beavers Lane, Hounslow.

Adams added: "The combined impact of private sector constraints and public sector cuts has created uncertainty and challenging market conditions. Stability, longevity and quality are more important than ever; these values have always been the cornerstone of United House."

"Our strengths have been in our agility and the breadth of our business. Our relationships with key clients in local authorities, housing associations and the private sector continue to go from strength to strength. In our last financial year, we delivered record growth and a secured pipeline of workload in excess of £200m. We continue to invest for long-term growth."

Nick Stonley, managing director of United House Developments, said: "Everyone at United House Developments has played a vital part in winning Housebuilder of the Year and this amazing cache of gold, silver and bronze awards. They are a fantastic team and these awards are testament to their hard work.

"We have some outstanding developments coming through. At Clapham One in South London, we are delivering, in partnership with Lambeth Council and Cathedral Group, affordable and private homes, a new library and a leisure centre at zero cost to local residents. We are developing an exciting regeneration scheme in Deptford, conversion of warehouses to create riverside homes in Greenwich, plus homes in Soho and in the City of London. Above all, we are building homes in areas where people want to live and breathing new life into those districts through regeneration."
