Traditional looking new homes that appeal

Date:

Friday 29th October 2010

This year, new home builder Redrow Homes have been constructing new homes that offer a genuine sense of feeling that they have been established for longer than it actually have, with its New Heritage Collection of new homes.

Influenced by the Arts & Crafts era of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Redrow's have focussed on constructing ‘character' homes from later periods of the Arts & Crafts period, especially the 1920s and 1930s.

The housebuilder has attempted to bring back the skill and creativity of the individual craftsman and revive the simplicity in the way buildings and furnishings were made. Redrow has deliberately set out to reintroduce a high degree of individuality to the way its new build homes look and feel.

External features of many of Redrow's homes typify the era include dropped eaves, bay windows and timber or tiled canopies over doors and windows.

Tonia Tyler of Redrow Homes says: "Research among our customers told us they wanted a traditional looking home, preferably detached, with a good size garden and, ideally, its own garage; a home that was perhaps evocative of the one they grew up in. Their list of ‘must-haves' included statement-making kitchens and bathrooms, high quality fixtures and fittings and built-in energy efficiency. We've successfully wrapped all this up in The New Heritage Collection."

Show homes are available to view at a number of Redrow Homes's new home developments up and down the country.
