Thousands of first time buyers attend FIRST STEPS London Homes Show

Date:

Thursday 30th June 2011

Over 3,000 people looking to rent or buy an affordable home in London attended the inaugural FIRST STEPS London Homes Show last week at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, in Westminster, where over 25 of London's major affordable housing providers gathered.

The impressive attendance illustrated growing demand for affordable homes in London and even resulted in housing providers taking a record number of bookings for viewings for the available new homes through FIRST STEPS.

Exhibitors at the FIRST STEPS London Homes Show included affordable housing providers such as Notting Hill Housing, Family Mosaic, A2 Dominion and Circle Living.

"The London Homes Show was very informative and the FIRST STEPS scheme is a great way to get onto the property ladder" commented one of the visitors.

Over 1000 people also took advantage of a free financial consultation with expert Independent Financial Advisers or Solicitors at the show. Plus, presentations ran throughout the day that provided up to the minute information on all aspects of FIRST STEPS, from initial application through to buying your own home.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said: "London is a great city, but for those on low and modest incomes, the capital is an increasingly expensive place to live. My hope is that through FIRST STEPS, and the London Homes Show, finding a home to buy will be made easier, and the cost of living in the capital more affordable."

Affordable homeownership is generally available to households earning less than £60,000 a year.
