Date:

Monday 18th July 2011

New home builders David Wilson South Midlands and Barratt Northampton will work in conjunction to build 248 new homes in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, after Kettering Borough Council approved plans for the scheme.

The housebuilders will transform the 8.2 hectares of agricultural land in Higham Road into a collection of new build homes, with work scheduled to begin within the next few weeks. The development, called Latimer Gardens, will officially launch in September.

The project, worth around £42m, will help to increase the supply of muxch needed new homes in the local area, with a selection of two to five bedroom homes planned.

The developers are hoping to appeal to a wide range of purchasers, from first time buyers to families.

It is understood that the local authority could earn up to £3.1m from the government's 'New Homes Bonus' for approving plans for the development.

Chris Hatfield, managing director at David Wilson South Midlands, said: "We are delighted to receive approval from Kettering Borough Council for our plans to develop the site on Higham Road on the outskirts of Burton Latimer.

"We've worked in close conjunction with the Borough Council's planning officers to derive a detailed proposal that meets all planning requirements and one that will produce a high quality housing scheme over the next few years and we look forward to commencing construction work imminently."
