Planning consent has been given by South Somerset District Council for the construction of 526 new homes on greenfield land in Crewkerne, Somerset.
The scheme, located north east of Crewkerne, will include 100 affordable homes, along with retail space and a primary school.
Council leader Ric Pallister told the press: "The town has been virtually unanimous in its support for this. Only two people spoke out against it last night [at the meeting]."
The green light has been award for a number of new homes in Somerset throughout this year, including 212 new homes in Wincanton. Plans for the scheme, which is being developed by Bovis Homes, was also by South Somerset District Council in August.
Elsewhere in Somerset, David Wilson Homes is building a selection of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes at Langford Mead in Taunton. Prices range from £199,950 to £419,950.
In Yeovil, Bloor Homes is developing Wyndham Park in Lyde Road. The development will consist of apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroomed homes, with prices ranging from £119,960 to £239,950.
Taylor Wimpey is constructing a collection of new homes at Withycombe Meadow in Burnham on Sea. The prices of the two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments range from £99,995 to £199,995.
