Over 100 new affordable homes are being constructed in Kettering Borough, with completion scheduled for 2012, as a result of a new partnership between Kettering Borough Council and Waterloo Housing Group.
The new partnership is bringing two new homes developments, part funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), to fruition.
A £7.25m development of 68 new affordable homes is nearing completion at Bridle Road in Burton Latimer. Meanwhile, work is now underway on a £4.8m residential scheme at the site of Tresham College's former campus at St Mary's Road in Kettering.
A range of new houses and bungalows will be completed at the Bridle Road site between March and May next year for Waterloo by Westleigh Partnership Homes. These will feature two, three and four bedroom homes for rent, as well as to part-buy and part-rent through shared ownership.
The St Mary's Road development is seeing developer William Davis start work on building the foundations for 40 affordable homes for Waterloo.
Featuring a selection of smaller homes, such as one and two bedroom apartments, together with larger family houses, this site will also offer opportunities for rent and for shared ownership. The new affordable homes, planned to sit alongside some new private retirement apartments, will be ready by December 2012.
Anthony Riley, group director of development and operations at Waterloo, said: "It is very rewarding to be working with the Borough Council and other partners to build new affordable homes in Kettering. The benefit is not only in providing much-needed new homes, but in stimulating the local economy with construction employment and related spending."
