Planning consent is expected to be awarded for the construction of over 200 new homes in Plymouth this week according to various local reports.
Housebuilder Barratt Homes has submitted a planning application to develop a £43m waterside community of 222 new homes on former Ministry of Defence land in Hooe.
Reports suggest that members of the planning committee are recommended to give conditional approval to the full planning application on Thursday.
Barratt Homes initially wanted to develop around 300 new homes but reduced this figure to 222 following a series of public consultations.
The scheme, which is expected to take about six-years to complete, will feature a selection of new apartments and houses for sale, including 22 apartments, four one-bedroom homes, 47 two-bedroom homes, 120 three-bedroom homes and 31 four-bedroom properties, including affordable homes.
It is understood that Barratt's has agreed a deal with South West Water to make improvements to the sewerage system to cope with the new homes.
Additionally, changes to the junction of Barton Road and Hooe Road will be made to cater for the new development, which includes the redesigned of a nearby bus stop.
