Planning consent for the construction of 45 new homes in Swindon town centre has been approved by Swindon council planners.
Muse, the residential development arm of Morgan Sindall, is expected to start building work on the new apartments in late spring.
The new homes will be developed on the site of the former central police station, as part of the first phase of the £350m Union Square development which received outline planning permission last year.
Doug Finlay, development director at Muse, commented: "This approval is a significant milestone for the project and will ensure a start on site in the late spring.
"It is estimated the total build cost for this first phase is £25m, which will bring much needed investment into the town."
Various housebuilders are currently developing a wide range of new homes in Swindon, such a Wichelstowe, which is being developed just off Croft Road by David Wilson Homes. The development features a selection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, with prices ranging from £164,950 to £264,950.
