New homes in Hartlepool completed

Friday 25th February 2011

A new homes development, featuring a selection of much needed affordable homes in Hartlepool has been completed by Yuill Construction - in partnership with Hartlepool Borough Council and Housing Hartlepool.

A total of 82 affordable homes have been constructed across three different sites, including 28 new homes for social rent at Golden Meadows, off Seaton Lane - some of the first local authority homes to be built in the local area for a number of years.

The development, supported by a £4.2m grant from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), will include a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes, built to level four on the government's Code for Sustainable Homes.

David Curtis, executive director for the HCA in the North East, Yorkshire and The Humber, said: "Warm and less expensive to run, these homes will help to set a higher standard for sustainable living in Hartlepool."

"Our role is all about helping to make things happen in local communities, and this is another great example of that local approach in action."

The HCA will also fund the construction of 68 new eco-homes at nearby Easington Road and just over 80 new homes in Belle Vue.
