Housebuilder Persimmon Homes has welcomed Chancellor George Osborne's Autumn Statement which included plans to develop more new homes and create fresh jobs in the process.
Steve Roche, group communications director, Persimmon Homes, said that ‘The Get Britain Building Fund', announced last week, but reinforced again in the Autumn Statement, will help both the industry and new home buyers alike.
"This initiative, along with last week's announcement of the government and industry-backed mortgage indemnity scheme, will enable mortgage lenders to offer 95% loans on new build homes, dramatically reducing the deposits people have to save," said Roche.
He added: "The news to support new developments which could include modern garden cities, urban and village extensions is also of interest to us. We now await further information about the government's invitation for proposals from developers and local authorities for new developments that have clear local support."
