Major regeneration of Essex town to include 3,000 new homes

Up to 3,000 new homes, including a wide range of affordable homes, will be built in Purfleet, Essex, as part of the regeneration of the town centre.

Although a developer has not yet been appointed, Thurrock Council has confirmed that plans for the £950m project will go-ahead. It willalso feature a new health centre, school, retail and commercial facilities.

Various housebuilders are currently working hard to increase the supply of much required new homes in Essex.

Housebuilder Charles Church is developing a development of contemporary three-, four- and five-bedroom homes at Lexden View in Colchester. Priced from £250,000 to £380,000, buyers can personalise their interiors by choosing from a range of Finishing Touches Options.

Taylor Wimpey is building a selection of houses and apartments in a coastal development called Peninsula in Dovercourt. Prices start from £112,995.

Weston Homes has launched a collection of new homes in Colchester as part of the latest phase of its luxury mixed-use development Hawkins Wharf. The second phase of the scheme features an exclusive collection of 75 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with many benefiting from views over the River Colne in a desirable part of Colchester.

When complete, Hawkins Wharf will feature 221 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and seven, three- and four-bedroom townhouses, as well as commercial and retail space. Prices start at £117,500.

Finally, Banner Homes recently purchased a new development site with planning consent to develop eight apartments overlooking the village green in the picturesque village of Theydon Bois. This acquisition is the company's fourth in Essex and confirms Banner's ongoing commitment to growing its business in this location.
