Cherwell District Council has awarded P3Eco (Bicester) Ltd and its development partner A2Dominion planning consent for the construction of the first phase of the NW Bicester eco development, which will feature 393 new homes.
The scheme, which is being part funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), will include 119 affordable homes, along with a renewable energy centre onsite.
All new homes in the development, including affordable homes, will be constructed to meet Level 5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, making it one of the largest schemes of its kind.
Additional plans for the eco town include new shops, schools, open green spaces, social and community facilities.
Members of the general public wanting to get a glimpse of what the new eco homes will look like are welcome to visit the Garth Park in Bicester where a demonstration building, which includes a rain water collection system and an air source heat pump water heater, is on display.
Ian Inshaw, the Chairman of P3Eco (Bicester) Ltd, commented; "We are delighted that we have now received the Council's support for the proposals. When permission is granted, it will herald the start of delivering the NW Bicester eco development as the largest Code 5 and zero carbon scheme in the country."
