Kick-start your search for a new home at Saxton Park

Prospective homebuyers are being offered the opportunity to purchase a new home on the site of a former football ground in Essex.

Housebuilder Weston Homes is currently developing a collection of 95 high specification two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses and coach houses, at a development called Saxton Park on the site of the former Grays Athletic Football Club stadium.

Located less than a mile from Grays Railway Station, building work is continuing to progress at Saxton Park, with a number of new homes ready to move into and a show home available to view.

Launched in August 2011, Saxton Park will comprise of a total of 29, two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, five, two-bedroom coach houses and 61, two-bedroom apartments.

The Grays Athletic stadium was a 2.88 acre ground with a 1,000-seater stand and three terraces which could accommodate a further 5,000 supporters. The stadium had been the home of Grays Athletic for 120 years, but has now been converted into a unique collection of new homes by Weston Homes and keeps the traditions of the football club in its name - having been named after the Saxton brothers Jeff and Fred, who served the club as twin managers for nearly three decades.

Weston Homes will also be marking the centre spot inside the grounds of the development with a commemorative marker in reference to Saxton Park once being the home of Grays Athletic Football Club.

First-time buyers are also given a helping hand towards buying a new home at Saxton Park, without the need for a hefty deposit. Potential buyers only need to raise a deposit of 5% on the value of the home.

One of the world's largest banks, Santander, is currently offering new buyers a special deal with mortgages offered for up to 90% of the property value. This means first time buyers only need to cover the remaining 10%, but by putting down a deposit of just 5%, Weston Homes will provide the remaining 5% which is needed.
