Housebuilders unite to develop new homes in Bucks

Date:

Tuesday 7th June 2011

New home developers Barratt Northampton, David Wilson South Midlands and Bovis Homes Central Region have joined forces to deliver 700 new homes in Buckingham.

In additional to the new build properties, additional plans for the 72.6-acre site includes the construction of a new primary school, two football pitches, public open spaces, play areas, a sports pavilion as well as local highway improvements, at a total cost of £173m.

Among the 700 new homes, around 250 affordable homes will be built for people living in the local community. Some of the new affordable homes will be available to buy on a shared equity basis, while others will be made available to the rental market.

A detailed application for the new homes will be submitted in June with a view to starting work in August. The first new homes are scheduled for completion in early 2012.

The developers will also contribute £3m to local services, including police services, local education, pedestrian and cycle paths, town centre parking and libraries.

Ian Young, Barratt Northampton's development director, said:

"We're delighted to announce the purchase of this significant flagship site."
