Government supports proposed affordable homes in Wiltshire

Plans for the construction of hundreds of new homes in Wiltshire aimed at the affordable housing sector have moved a step closer to gaining approval after receiving support from the government.

Housing Minister Grant Shapps has signed off plans for the £77m scheme, made through the Private Finance Initiative, which would see around 350 new affordable homes constructed

If more detailed plans from Wiltshire Council are also approved by the government, then new home builders Persimmon Homes, Westbury Partnerships and Sarsen Housing Association, will be appointed to deliver the new homes.

According to initial plans, around 240 new homes would be constructed in Westbury, Melksham, Hilperton, Trowbridge and Warminster during the first phase of the scheme.

A further 100 new homes would be delivered during the second phase of the project, according to the existing plans.

New homes in Wiltshire for sale
New home builder Taylor Wimpey is currently building a collection of new homes in Wiltshire at a development called Quakers Walk, which features a selection of state-of-the-art EcoHomes with a range of energy saving, climate friendly features, set in an idyllic location on the northern outskirts of Devizes.

Quakers Walk consists of 61 new homes, including three, four and five bedroom units, with prices ranging from £199,995 to £349,995.

Linden Homes are building of 256 new homes on the site of Chippenham's cattle market in a development called Market Quarter, with prices starting from £99,995.
