New home builder Persimmon Homes has submitted a planning application to Peterborough City Council for the construction of 136 new homes in Peterborough on a plot south of Oakdale Avenue in Stanground.
The housebuilder has been trying to sell the land, but has now decided to construct new homes on it instead, after failing to attract a buyer.
Adrian Evans, managing director of Persimmon Homes, said: "After extensive investigations by the specialist agents we appointed, we found there wasn't a requirement in the Peterborough area for our proposed commercial units at Stanground.
"Following ongoing discussions with Peterborough City Council we have submitted plans to build 136 homes to satisfy the demand for quality yet affordable new housing in the area."
