Arsenal V Blackpool Premiership Football Preview

Friday 20th August 2010

Premiership newcomers Blackpool surprised just about everyone when they thrashed Wigan Athletic 4-0 on the opening day of the season last weekend. But Saturday's clash with North London giants Arsenal promises to be a much tougher test.

The Gunners, who were fortunate to pick-up a late equalizer in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield last Sunday, are expected to win this weekend's match at home.

However, Arsenal will be missing some key players with Samir Nasri and Nicklas Bendtner injured, while Laurent Koscielny is suspended. Robin Van Persie, Denilson, Alex Song and Cesc Fabregas are all doubts.

Much like Arsenal's playing squad, which does have strength in-depth, property in Arsenal and the wider North London area is by and large not cheap. But properties in Blackpool, similar to Blackpool's football team, are generally valued at considerably less money, in comparison.

According to the Land Registry, the average price of a home in Blackpool is £112,350, while the average price of a home in Islington, which Arsenal forms part of, is just over £461,500.

Arsenal football club in Partnership with Newlon Housing Trust is developing over 1,000 new affordable homes as part of the wider regeneration of the area arising from Arsenal's move from Highbury to Emirates Stadium.

The first new homes for Key Workers have already opened in Hornsey Street and further affordable housing developments for local people and Key Workers are in the pipeline at various sites stretching from Highbury in the east to Caledonian Road in the west.

The Arsenal Regeneration programme is creating a mixture of new homes including Shared Ownership apartments to help people get on the property ladder for the first time, and low cost rented housing for local people and Key Workers.

Following Arsenal's move to Emirates stadium their historic home, the club's former stadium, Highbury Square, has been converted into new build apartments of which 44 are shared ownership apartments.

Pendle Fold, located off Westfield Avenue in Blackpool, is a stylish collection of two and three bedroom properties being constructed by Jones Homes. All of the properties are spacious and finished to the highest level of construction, design and specification.

The new build home project is perfectly situated for travelling to Blackpool town centre and Poulton and as it occupies a quiet cul-de-sac position, this development is peaceful and ideal for first-time buyers and families alike.

The remaining new build homes in the development are available to purchase on an affordable home basis, with prices starting from £112,000 for a 70% of the property.
