New homes builder Kier has been selected by Forest of Dean District Council to construct 99 new homes as part of the second phase of the regeneration of Cinderford.
According to the plans, the new build homes, which will range from range from one bedroom apartments to four bedroom houses, will be built on a vacant council-owned site in Valley Road.
This stage of the project, which is being part funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), will include a selection of 40 affordable homes, and is expected to take around two year to complete, subject to the necessary planning permission being awarded.
All new homes in the development will be built to Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, which represents a higher than usual standard of environmental sustainability for a new house or apartment.
Chris King, managing director of Kier Partnership Homes, commented: "We are delighted to have been selected to deliver this exciting new development. It will bring much-needed new homes to Cinderford, both affordable and for private sale, all built to a high standard of sustainability."
Greg Morgan, HCA area manager, said: "This is the latest step in the regeneration of Cinderford, which stands to benefit from a range of measures to bring new homes, jobs and improved education to the town. Our investment in this project has helped to unlock the Valley Road site for redevelopment and secures the long-term future of local jobs in the area, which is something that we are committed to."
