Islington BCU is part of The Metropolitan Police Police Force. These figures are an average for the area policed by the Metropolitan Police Police Force and do not necessarily reflect the actual crime rate in this post code area.

The 2006/07 figures are due to be published in July 2007.

These crime figures are taken from the Home Office publication: Basic Command Unit Recorded Crime for Six Key offences, April 2005 to March 2006. The six key offences are violence against a preson, sexual offences, robbery, burglary, from dwellings, theft of a motor vehicle and theft from a vehicle.

Crime rates are based on mid-2003 population estimates supplied by the Office for National Statistics.

Please be careful when considering crime rates of city center areas. The very high reported crime rates are partly due to the use of both small resident population and low household figures as denominators of the crime rate. The transient population migrates into city centers on a daily basis, either for work or leisure, will not be reflected in the resident population figures.

Offence rates are not applicable for airports, as they have no resident population.
