What House? Awards

Bold north west offerings from What House? Award winners Urban Splash

After scooping two golds, a silver and a brozne at the What House? Awards 2012, Urban Splash are in celebratory mood. For those who have been following the developer it comes as no surprise that their innovative approach has been recognised - the developer has continued to take risks with cutting edge, affordable, residential property during a time when it's easier to play it safe.  Even more daring, they've done it outwith the safe zone of London.

Marc Da Silva picks his favourite What House? 2011 award-winners

Having been involved with the What House? Awards as a judge since 2007, I have been taken aback by some of the schemes that I have visited. During that time I have viewed some extraordinary broad ranging developments, featuring new homes designed for first time buyers, professionals, couples and families.

While I only get to see a fraction of the awards entries in person during the judging process, one of the perks of my role as editor of whathouse.co.uk is that I get to go out and about around the country all year round, so I get to see an awful lot of new homes at other times. I'm always pleased when I see a scheme I've really liked on site earlier in the year is entered for an award, and even more so if the judges decide to recognise its excellence.
