Work starts on new homes in Sussex

Housebuilder Barratt Homes has started construction work on a residential development featuring 76 new homes on the site of a former school in Furnace Green.

The new homes, which are being developed at the old Robert May School and the North East Area Proffessional Centre site on Furnace Drive, will include 31 affordable homes.

Weekly affordable homes round up

Shadow chancellor Ed Balls this week called for 100,000 new affordable homes to be constructed in a bid to help more people gain a foot on the housing ladder and kick-start economic growth.

Mr Balls, MP for Morley & Outwood, said that the plan should be funded using the £3bn to £4bn expected to be raised from the forthcoming auction of the 4G mobile phone spectrum.

Hillreed Homes record high level of sales

New homes across a number of Hillreed Homes' developments in Sussex , Kent , Surrey and Hampshire are selling fast, according to the housebuilder.

Housebuilders are not developing enough new homes to meet demand

Hillreed see rise in demand for new homes

It has been a good start to the year for new homes builder Hillreed Homes with site visits and new homes sales increasing significantly.

The housebuilder reports that it has seen a hike in demand for its new homes in Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire, with site visits rising by 26% and new homes sales up 22% in January 2012 compared to the corresponding month last year.

Developers to build 1,300 affordable homes in Hampshire

Up to 1,300 new affordable homes will be built across Hampshire, after a consortium of housing providers successfully secured investment from the Government.

The Wayfarer Partnership - a consortium of eight different housing providers - secured the deal with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) as part of its Affordable Homes Programme, which is set to deliver 80,000 new affordable homes across England by 2015.
