Retirement homes

Work on a major new development to provide affordable homes for the over 55s has got underway in Cumbrian coastal town of Whitehaven.

Home Group is investing in the region of £2.56m to transform two areas of Whitehaven into new homes for local people. The development is also being part funded by the Homes and Communities Agency.

Residents of two Raglan schemes in Nottingham shared their views on changes to government policy regarding care for the elderly with Shadow Health Secretary, Andy Burnham MP.

Mr Burnham visited retirement developments, Lime Tree Court and Raglan Court, last week along with Lilian Greenwood, the local MP for Nottingham South. They were given a warm welcome by residents and staff who were keen to share their thoughts.
