Steeped in history and abundant in dramatic countryside, the Scottish Borders is a beautiful part of the country to settle down in. Buyers looking to find a new home in the Borders will find a selection of family homes available, with housebuilders seemingly taking great care to blend their new homes into their surroundings.
The Scottish Borders is a very special place to settle down in. As well as the magnificent scenery, spectacular views and rich heritage, the sense of community in the area is hard to beat. Charming villages sit next to busy towns, creating a rural yet convenient lifestyle within easy reach of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle. There's a great choice of new-build houses for sale in the region right now.
Scottish housing minister Keith Brown today opened a site in the Borders which will be developed into a collection of new affordable homes, under the Scottish government's National Housing Trust (NHT) scheme.
New homes developer Tweed Homes will build 26 new homes in Galashiels and 25 new houses in Innerleithen, under the initiative.
The new homes will be initially let on a lease of five to 10 years, before being sold, with residents offered priority.
