Housebuilder Bellway Homes will develop the first phase of 181 new homes at Channels Golf Club, to the north of Chelmsford, after planning consent was awarded for the scheme, which will eventually feature up to 750 properties, towards the end of last year.
Aside from develop new residential properties, as part of stage one of the Radial Distributor Road scheme to serve North East Chelmsford, Bellway will also build the primary infrastructure for the whole site of 750 houses.
There was a significant rise in the number of people snapping up new homes from Bellway over the spring with average weekly property sales increasing by 19%, according to the housebuilder.
The company said that new homes reservations, net of cancellations, averaged 122 per week between the start of February and the end of May, up 9% on the previous year. Private weekly sales increased by 19%.

This has been a good week for housebuilder Bellway Homes after the company announced that its completed new homes sales increased by 5% in the six months to 31 January 2012 with operating margins expected to reach double digits.
During the six-month period the residential property developer said it completed the sale of 2,455 new homes compared to 2,332 new houses and apartments in the previous six months, driven by private sales, which have risen by 15%.
