Homebuyers praise Benfield Homes as Havelock Gardens new homes sell fast

With only three new homes left unsold on the current phase at their Havelock Gardens development in Thurmaston, housebuilder Benfield Homes is celebrating the success of the scheme and winning the praise of the new residents. The gated apartment development is located in a village to the north of Leicester, close to the River Soar and the Watermead Country Park.

The remaining two-bedroom apartments are priced from just £124,950, though with the company's popular shared equity scheme, this comes down to £106,200 as Benfield Homes will contribute 20% of the purchase price in the form of a long-term loan to the buyer, who only has to find a mortgage for the 80% balance.

Homes at Havelock Gardens have attracted an array of buyers, according to Benfield Homes sale negotiator Claire Bull: "The development continues to be popular with a range of people, from first-time buyers and people wanting to downsize, to couples...looking for a property which is easier to maintain."

Some buyers have taken just a few weeks to move into their new home, praising the housebuilder for its high level of customer service.

"Benfield Homes have been really helpful. From putting our house on the market, everything was done in just four weeks and we moved in shortly after, which was much quicker than we thought it would take," says Tom Lakin, who recently took possession of his new apartment with his wife Glenys.

Jeff and Tricia Davies downsized from their previous home, but suffered some delays when their buyer dropped out after they had already decided to move to Havelock Gardens. The Benfield Homes team played an invaluable part in getting them into their new apartment, says Jeff: "We saw the apartment last December but we didn't move in until May. Benfield Homes stood by us while all this was being sorted out, both financially and by giving us support.

"Claire was amazing all the way through dealing with the estate agents and solicitors on our behalf. If it hadn't have been for the support we received from the sales staff, I don't think we would have moved here. They pulled out all the stops and we appreciate it."

First time buyers Sanjay and Krisha Patel also took just four weeks to complete the deal on their new home: "I think the speed of the deal was pretty impressive and that was largely because Benfield went beyond the call of duty and offered us a more personal level of support which you might not get from a larger housebuilder," says Sanjay. "All this, combined with the fact that our new home moves us closer to our places of work, made it the perfect location."

Just a few miles from the city centre and about a mile from Syston rail station, Thurmaston has a population of about 9,000. With two marinas and a shopping centre featuring several household name brands, the village provides a variety of local amenities while being within easy reach of Leicester's commercial centre and comprehensive retail and leisure facilities.
