The What House? Awards are the Oscars of the housebuilding industry, now in their 28th year, and are a celebration of the Best New Homes in Britain. The gala ceremony will be held as a luncheon at the prestigious Grosvenor House hotel on London's Park Lane on Friday 20th November 2009
Entry to Best Starter Home
This is all about a new home that shouts quality, but affordability on this vital first rung of the housing ladder. With a limited amount of square feet in which to designand a price tag within the range of first time buyers, judges will be looking at one and two-bedroom houses, apartments and flats, offering the best value for money, without compromising on quality.
Judging
When all entries have been received, an extensive panel of property experts, including architects,surveyors, property writers and industry specialists, will prepare a shortlist of the best entries in each category. Each shortlisted entry will then be visited and a detailed report drawn up before judges reach their final decisions. Up to three awards - Gold,Silver and Bronze - will be made in each category (apart from Category1).
Where entries are deemed of insufficient merit, the number of awards may be reduced in that category.
Written reports detailing the judges' decisions will be made available at the conclusion of What House? Awards presentation luncheon. The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Publicity for Winners
Award-winning housebuilders and developments will receive widespread national and local media coverage in an integrated PR and marketing campaign, promoting the builders of the best new homes in Britain. Show House - the leading trade magazine for the UK's housebuilding industry - gives extensive coverage for the What House? Awards. Provincial and local newspapers, as well as regional radio stations, regularly feature winning developments and winners will also be featured on whathouse.co.uk product, backed up with photographs and why the entry is worthy of being considered for the industry's top accolades.
