Plans for new homes in Leicester approved
Leicester city Council has awarded outline planning consent for a mixed-use regeneration scheme in Leicester which will include the construction of almost 300 brand new homes.
New home builder Bowbridge Group received the go-ahead for the project on the site of the old Corah textile factory.
According to the approved plans, the scheme will feature 270 new homes, a bowling alley, gymnasium and a supermarket. There will also be a new pedestrian walkway to link the area with the city’s Abbey Park.
Don Kotak, a partner at Bowbridge Group, commented: “At the moment, the area is isolated from the park and the walkway and traffic routes will provide an important link. The changes will open up the whole area.”
While the Bowbridge Group toast to their successful planning application, another new homes developer, Westleigh Partnership Homes, will be hoping for similar good fortune, after applying to Leicester City Council for permission to develop the site of the former British Union Shoe Machinery works in Ross Walk.
Initial plans for the project were drawn up in 2006 and include the construction of 191 new homes, including 119 social housing units.
